The Yaxi Power Plant project is one of the second batch of projects in "West-to-East Power Transmission" in Guizhou, with a total installed capacity of 1.2 million kw. The first unit was put into operation on January 19, 2005, and the second unit was put into operation on June 25, 2005. The third unit was connected to the grid on December 8, 2005, and the fourth unit is expected to be put into operation in June 2006. Up to December 5, 2005, the accumulative power generation was 3.271 billion kw.h.

Yaxi Power Plant Project is funded and constructed by China Guodian Group Corporation holding 51% shares and Guizhou Xidian Electric Power Co., LTD. holding 49% shares, with a total dynamic investment of more than 4.9 billion RMB. On September 27, 2005, China Guodian Group Corporation and Guizhou Jinyuan Group Co., Ltd. signed a strategic cooperation agreement. According to the needs of the national strategy of western development and West-to-East Power Transmission, in order to promote the development of national economy and power industry in Guizhou Province, the two parties will consolidate resources and give full play to their respective advantages in talent, technology, capital, management and project approval in the field of energy development and establish strategic cooperative relations.
